Currently, users can reserve spaces at one DAL parking location, which provides complimentary Dallas Love Field Airport transportation. There are also two other off-site parking lots available with shuttle service to Dallas Love Field listed for reference.
Two on-airport parking garages at DAL airport are also available. Parking Garage A is for short-term stays, while Parking Garage B is for long-term airport parking. The Garage Pedestrian Bridge leads travelers from the garage to the terminals.
DAL Airport Guide
The smaller of two commercial Dallas airports, Dallas Love Field (DAL) is the ancestral home of low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines, which launched intra-Texas flights from Dallas to Houston and San Antonio in 1971. Today, Southwest remains as the dominant carrier at the airport, though other service is provided by Delta and United.
As for Dallas Love Field, service at the airport is restricted by the Wright Amendment, which only allows larger aircraft to be flown nonstop from Love to certain states. Many of the restrictions imposed by this law are set to be relaxed in 2014, allowing carriers like Southwest to add more flights to a greater variety of destinations. Despite these restrictions, Love Field sees around seven million passengers annually.
Love Field is only six miles from downtown Dallas and is located near Interstate 35 and the Dallas North Tollway. The airport is also accessible via public transport operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), which operates a bus route that serves Love Field. This bus stops at a nearby light rail station that provides service to downtown Dallas.
In the past, Love Field has had one terminal, but temporality has two because of a multi-year modernization project taking place at the airport:
- Delta and United operate from Terminal 1, which is a temporary, stand-alone terminal with its own TSA checkpoint, ticketing and baggage claim
- Terminal 2 is exclusively used by Southwest, with curbside check-in
