On-airport parking is also available, with parking areas for Terminals A and B, Terminal C, and Terminals D and E. IAH also offers members-only guaranteed parking rates through SurePark, which guarantees on-airport parking at the Terminal C garage.
IAH Airport Guide
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is the larger of Houston’s two airports (the other is Houston Hobby). Located about 23 miles north of downtown Houston, or roughly 35 minutes away, IAH airport offers domestic and international flights to over 170 destinations, with over 40 million passengers passing through its terminals in 2010. In fact, the airport was ranked in the same year by Travel + Leisure as one of America’s Best Airports.
The airport is conveniently located near major roads such as US Route 59, Interstate 45, the Sam Houston Parkway, and the Hardy Toll Road. Public bus service (METRO) to downtown Houston is also available.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport has historically served as the largest hub for Continental Airlines, which is currently in the process of merging with United Airlines under the United brand name. While Continental/United is the largest carrier at the airport, it is also served by other major US carriers like American, Delta, and US Airways. Houston also features international service from carriers like British Airways, Emirates, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines.
The airport has five terminals, which are connected with each other by two systems: TerminaLink and the inter-terminal train. The major difference is that the former is located after security (great for connecting passengers), while the latter is before the security checkpoint.
Airlines that aren’t Continental or United utilize Terminal A, like American, Delta, and US Airways. Continental Connection also operates here. Continental Express and United Express utilized Terminal B, while Terminal C is exclusively used for Continental and United flights. International carriers use Terminal D for their operations, whereas Terminal E is solely for flights from Continental Airlines, mainly its international departures.Resources/Helpful Links
