HOU Airport Guide
William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is one of two major Houston airports, with the city also served by George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Offering nonstop and direct service to over 34 destinations in the U.S., Houston Hobby served more than nine million passengers in 2010. It’s also been bestowed the honor of being one of America’s Best Airports by Travel + Leisure.
While Houston Hobby might not have as much air service as Intercontinental, a hub for United/Continental, it does provide a convenient location for travelers. Intercontinental is approximately 20 miles from downtown Houston, while Hobby is only seven miles away, near I-45/Gulf Freeway. Public transportation is also available by taking the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO), with buses available outside the airport at curb zone 13.
Unlike IAH, Houston Hobby is one of the ten busiest airports in the Southwest Airlines network, with over 130 daily departures. While Southwest dominates the airport in terms of market share, the airport is also served by carriers including AirTran, American Eagle, Delta, Frontier, and JetBlue. The airport only has one terminal used for all airlines. It is predominantly used by Southwest.Resources/Helpful Links
