For decades, Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) served as an important hub for Northwest Airlines. The airport now serves an important role in Delta Airlines route network after the air carrier completed its merger with Northwest. Because of its hub status, Minneapolis has extensive Delta service to a wide range of destinations – from Tampa to Tokyo and everywhere in between. Delta and its regional partners provide service to a large number of destinations throughout the United States, but Delta also operates international service to destinations such as London and Paris. Delta might be the largest airline at Minneapolis, but the airport is well-served by other air carriers. Sun Country Airlines is based in Minneapolis, providing service to a range of destinations, especially popular tourist destinations in the winter. MSP is served by the other major airlines as well, including American, Southwest, United, and US Airways. The airport is relatively convenient for those driving, with easy access to Interstates 34 and 494. MSP is also accessible via public transit, with light rail service provided by Metro Transit’s Hiawatha Line. Public bus service is also available. MSP has two terminals, Lindbergh (Terminal 1) and Humphrey (Terminal 2). The Lindbergh Terminal (Terminal 1) is dominated by Delta Air Lines’ hub operation at MSP, with service on six (A, B, C, D, F, and G) of the terminals seven concourses. Service from other carriers, such as American, Frontier, United, and US Airways, operates out of Concourse E.
