MSY Airport Guide
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is the principal airport for the city of New Orleans, as well as surrounding areas in the St. Charles and Jefferson Parishes in southeast Louisiana. Located approximately 10 miles from downtown New Orleans, MSY airport saw over seven million in 2010 pass through its gates. Given that New Orleans is situated practically at sea level, the airport is the second lowest-lying international airport in the world, behind Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport in the Netherlands.

Travelers driving from the east should take I-10 West until they reach exit signs for the terminals. Those in need of public transportation can take the Airport-Downtown Express (E-2) Bus, which provides services to downtown New Orleans. Taxis, airport shuttles and limos are also available.
Major airlines like AirTran Airways, American, Air Canada, Delta, US Airways, Frontier, JetBlue, United and Southwest all fly out of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Although New Orleans airport used to be a major gateway for travel to Central and South American countries, airlines still fly out of MSY to destinations such as San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Toronto.
