ONT Airport Guide

LA/Ontario International Airport, in the heart of the Inland Empire in Southern California, about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The airport, which saw 4.8 million passengers pass through its gates in 2010, serves the city of Ontario in San Bernardino County, along with surrounding suburb cities in the Inland Empire, Los Angeles County and Orange County. It’s also a hub for Southwest Airlines, with over 50 percent of passenger traffic flying Southwest in early 2011.

Getting to Ontario Airport is relative to which direction you’re coming. From the Los Angeles, Long Beach or Orange County areas, take the 10 East – from the San Bernardino, Temecula, or Riverside areas, get to the 10 West - and exit at Archibald Avenue, where you will turn right and go straight to the airport. Public transportation options are dependent on where you are traveling. There are a number of transit companies to get in touch with, from Amtrak and Greyhound to Metrolink and Metro Bus and Rail for LA County.

While Southwest is the most popular airline flying out of Ontario, there are a number of other major air carriers with bases at the airport traveling to destinations around the country such as Denver, Seattle, Phoenix, Houston, Chicago, and more. Aeromexico has flights to Mexico City, which come in to the International Terminal. Alaska Airlines, Delta, United and United Express, as well as regional carrier Great Lakes, all fly out from Terminal 2, while American, Southwest and US Airways utilize Terminal 4.
