MCO Airport Guide
Given that Orlando is one of the largest tourism destinations in the world and home to major theme parks such as Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios, it’s not surprising that the city’s airport is also home to a wide array of domestic and international carriers. Located in Orange County, Florida, Orlando International Airport (MCO) had over 35 million passengers pass through its doors in 2010, with fliers being served by all major domestic carriers, including American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, United, and US Airways. International airlines such as Air France, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, TAM, and Copa Airlines also have service to Orlando.
MCO airport is conveniently located near state roads 528 and 417, which provide access to major highways such as I-4 and I-95. Public transportation is made available through Orlando’s Lynx system. In addition, certain resorts and travel companies and cruise lines may have their own ground transportation services available.
Orlando (MCO) has one terminal divided into two sides (A and B), each which have two concourses, or airsides:
- Terminal A has two airsides, 1 and 2. Airside 1 (gates 1-29) is home to one of Orlando’s largest carriers, JetBlue Airways, and other airlines including Alaska and American. Southwest Airlines is the primary tenant at Airside 2 (gates 100-129), though Virgin America also operates out of there as well.
- Airsides 3 and 4 are part of Terminal B. Major airlines utilizing Airside 3 (gates 30-59) include Frontier, Spirit, United, and US Airways. Airside 4 (gates 60-99) is home of AirTran, Delta, and many of the international carriers serving Orlando, such as British Airways and Lufthansa.
- It’s worth noting that in some cases in Orlando a carrier’s Airside and Terminal might not necessarily correspond. There’s no need to worry, however, as ticketing is in one central area – just follow the signs to the proper gate for your flight.
- Airsides 1 and 3 share a security checkpoint, as do Airsides 2 and 4.
