PBI Airport Guide
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), along with Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, make up the three major commercial airports serving South Florida. More specifically, PBI airport serves Palm Beach County. Located three miles west of Palm Beach, Florida and a few miles away from downtown West Palm Beach (confused yet?), PBI saw over 5.8 million passengers walk through its gates in 2010.
Get to Palm Beach airport easily from I-95, Southern Boulevard and Congress Avenue. If you’re coming from the Florida Turnpike, take either the Okeechobee or Southern Boulevard exits (depending on whether you’re coming north or south, respectively) to Australian Boulevard and proceed north. To get around Palm Beach from the airport via public transportation, use Palm Tran buses #40 and #44, both which serve PBI and provide connections to the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station. Note: during Orange and Red alerts, the Florida Mango and Congress entrances to PBI may be closed.
Discount air carriers like JetBlue Airways and Southwest have turned to PBI as a mini-hub for travelers, but other major airlines have remained mainstays at the airport, including Delta, AirTran Airways, American, US Airways and United. Other air carriers at Palm Beach include Air Canada, DirectAir, Gulfstream, and Spirit Airlines. Fly nonstop service to Detroit, Chicago, Niagara Falls, Montreal, New York, Marsh Harbour and more.
