SFO offers several parking options at the airport as well.The cheapest option is the large long term parking building, which you can immediately off the 101 on exit 424 for South Airport Blvd. The domestic garage is the closest for most terminals.Find valet parking and San Francisco Airport’s fully-automated ParkFAST program for passengers looking to save time. You can also find cheaper garage parking at the international garage.
Additionally, the airport has unique parking options for those who are mindful of their environmental impact. For example, free parking (up to 14 days with registration) is offered for bicycles, and some on-airport parking locations offer free charging for electric vehicles.
SFO Airport Guide
It’s not surprising that San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is one of the busiest airports in the nation, considering that it serves is one of the state’s largest metropolitan areas (downtown San Francisco is 13 miles from the airport). SFO airport is easily accessed from Route 101, which provides a direct route to downtown and connections to other Bay Area highways.The SFO airport parking lots are primarily located just north, west, and south of the airport along the 101.Alternately, the airport has its own Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station.
SFO is served by all major airlines in the United States and a slew of international carriers. United Airlines, the largest air carrier at the airport, operates a hub here with domestic and international flights to destinations like Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Seoul.Virgin America is based at the San Francisco Airport as well.
SFO has three main terminals that are currently active:the International Terminal (with boarding areas A and G) Terminal 1 (boarding areas B and C), and Terminal 3 (boarding areas E and F).
United Airlines operates out of boarding areas F and G in Terminal 3, and the International Terminal, respectively. Its merger partner Continental currently resides in Boarding Area B in Terminal 1. Meanwhile, Virgin America’s flights are in Boarding Area A.
Note:some airlines will be changing locations at the airport in the near future, as American Airlines and Virgin America will be moving to the nearly-completed Terminal 2.

- Shuttles coming from long term parking lots not located at San Francisco International Airport will drop off and pick up passengers at their terminal.
- To access on-airport parking at SFO, head to South Airport Boulevard from the 208 freeway and turn left into the long term parking garage.
- AirTrain is a fully automated people mover that connects to terminals, terminal garages and the BART Station. However, it does not provide service to the long term parking lot at SFO.
- SFO Airport provides free Wi-Fi internet access available in all terminals.
