Parking at Tampa International Airport

TPA Airport Guide
When one considers Tampa’s status as a major tourism destination, it’s not very surprising that Tampa International Airport handled over 16 million passengers in 2010. TPA was one of the first airports to pioneer the concept of connecting a central terminal to satellite gates via people movers in the 1960s. Currently, TPA is undergoing construction at curbside ticketing and baggage claim in order to modernize the airport.
Furthermore, Tampa International Airport is well-served by a number of airlines, including American, Delta, Frontier, United, and US Airways. These air carriers fly to a wide array of domestic carriers, while airlines like Air Canada, British Airways, Cayman Airways, and WestJet provide international service to destinations such as London, San Juan, Zurich and Mexico City. However, Southwest has the largest share of TPA passengers, operating over 80 daily flights.
Only five miles west of downtown Tampa on the east shore of Tampa Bay, the airport is conveniently located near multiple major roads, such as Interstate 275, and State Roads 60 and 589 (Veterans Expressway). Public transportation to and from the airport is also provided by Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART). Buses pick up passengers at the Red baggage claim.
Tampa features one terminal that features check-in space for all carriers that serve the airport. The facility is divided into the Red (North) and Blue (South) sides for check-in. Signage directs passengers to the proper side of check-in. Four airsides for departures are connected to the terminal by train:
- AirTran, Continental, JetBlue, Spirit, and United flights depart from Airside A
- Airside C is used by Frontier and Southwest
- Airside E is used for Air Canada and Delta departures
- American, British Airways, Caymay Airways, US Airways and WestJet are among the airlines that leave from Airside F
