Easy to get to from the Dulles Access Highway, there are free shuttles that take you from the garage to the airport. Valet parking is available directly in front of the main terminal, while both daily garages 1 and 2 are connected to the main terminal via covered walkways. All the lots provide complimentary shuttle service and you can feel safe with 24-hour security on premise. Additionally, the lots have emergency assistance such as jump starts for vehicles and air for low tires.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), located in Chantilly, Virginia, is approximately 26 miles west of downtown Washington DC. Serving the Washington DC, Baltimore and northern Virginia metro area, around 23.7 million passengers passed through in 2010 at one of the 127 gates at Dulles airport. With 82 nonstop U.S. destinations and 48 international destinations like Paris, Istanbul, Reykjavik, Lagos, and Grand Cayman, Dulles serves a massive number of travelers flying in to visit the nation’s capital.

To get to Dulles International Airport from Richmond or Baltimore, go north or south on I95 to I-495, then exit 45 and follow signs to the airport. From downtown DC, go west on I-66 to exit 67. From West Virginia or Roanoke in southwest Virginia, go south or north on I-81 to I-66 East and exit 53, then follow Route 28 to the airport.

If you’re looking for public transportation, take the Metrorail, the Baltimore-Washington-Northern Virginia metro area’s rapid transit system. An expansion of the Metrorail system is currently planned to reach Dulles airport in 2016. In the meantime, the nearest Metrorail station is at the West Falls Church Station on the Orange Line, with service to this station available through the Orange Line and Washington Flyer Coach Service, located in the main terminal. Alternately, travelers can take the Metrobus Route 5A between Dulles and Washington DC. Bonus: there’s direct bus service between Dulles Airport and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles.

Given the number of flights and passengers, major air carriers like United, US Airways, Virgin America, American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, Air France, British Airways and Lufthansa all fly out of Dulles airport, as well as international airlines such as Aer Lingus, Aeroflot, Cayman Airways, Copa Airlines, Icelandair, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air and Ethiopian.

Flights go in and out of concourses A, B, C and D, as well as Z-gates connected to the main terminal. The AeroTrain system transports passengers between concourses and the main terminal, similar to other people mover systems found in large airports worldwide:
