Parking at SFO (On-Airport)

San Francisco International Airport’s on-airport parking is not for the faint of heart, but it can be managed if you’re prepared ahead of time. Because you can’t reserve parking spaces at SFO, it’s highly advisable to check lot availability before attempting to park at any of the airport garages. To check the lot availability, visit www.flysfo.com/to-from/parking.

SFO offers five different kinds of lots for your needs: domestic, international, long-term, ParkValet and the cell phone waiting lot.

Domestic Parking Garage:
The domestic parking garage can be found at the center of the SFO airport, and it is divided into sections based on terminal and gate. Please use our table below to determine which garage you should park in. Vehicles over 6’6” cannot be accommodated in this garage.

Garage B: gates 20-39
Garage C: gates 40-48
Terminal 2:
Garage D: gates 50-59

Although the international parking garage is closer to the international terminal, you can also access domestic terminals through the AirTrain. Vehicles over 8’2” cannot be accommodated in this garage.
You can find rates for the International Parking Garage parking lots below:
15 minutes-$2.00
24-hour maximum -$36.00

ParkVALET
If you’re looking to splurge and want to make sure your car is taken care of properly while you’re away, you’ll appreciate the options offered at the ParkVALET. It’s also helpful for those running behind, as you can just drop your car off without having to look for a parking space. Located on the fourth level of the Domestic Parking Garage, there are paid car care and laundering services as well as free drinks and snacks.
You can find rates for the ParkVALET parking lots below:
$45 for the first 24 hours
15 minutes-$2.00

15 minutes-$2.00

For more in-depth information on the long-term parking garage, feel free to visit the section dedicated to long-term parking at SFO.

Cell Phone Waiting Lot:
If you’re unsure of when someone is flying in or waiting on a call to swoop in for a pick-up, this lot is the one you’ll want to take advantage of; it’s open from 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. and allows you to wait for 60 minutes free of charge. Your vehicle must be attended at all times.

Charging stations:
For those with electric vehicles, SFO provides free electric charging stations. You can find these charging stations in each domestic garage on Level 1, in international parking and in long-term parking.

SFO Long Term Parking

If you want to park in an on-airport lot overnight while you’re away, you’ll need to park your car in the designated long-term parking garage. The SFO long-term parking garage is located at: 806 South Airport Boulevard, San Francisco, CA 94128. There is a shuttle that will take you from the long-term parking lot to your terminal, but be sure you arrive at the airport early, so you have adequate time to get to the airport.

You may notice that the long-term parking rates are only slightly lower than the daily rates when parking at SFO. Instead of paying the high prices of off parking on-airport, budget-savvy travelers often utilize off-airport parking lots. These lots, a few miles away from the terminal, typically include a free shuttle service to the airport and discounted long-term parking. They’re perfect for short stay and long stay parking.

At AirportParking.com, we search through countless lot providers to bring you the best options to choose from. You can even read through real customer reviews to determine which lot will suit your needs best. To see what options are available for reliable parking lots near SFO, visit the Parking Lot Options section.

Airport Hotels

Bundle Packages

An increasingly popular option for traveling families and business professionals is a “park and fly” bundle. Also known as “park sleep fly” bundles, these packages are created by airport hotels who offer one night’s stay at their SFO hotel with airport parking. They’re often the same price or less than the price of standalone airport parking and give travelers the chance to catch up on last-minute projects or catch a little sleep before an early or long flight. They typically also include free shuttle service to the airport, creating a seamless transition for airport-goers.

ParkSleepFly.com makes finding these deals easy, and we’ve listed some of the best and cheapest SFO airport parking deals below.

Alternative Transportation

Car services

The two most common cab companies in San Francisco are Yellow Cab and Luxor Cab. Taking a taxi into the city from the airport can quickly become costly with typical rates starting around $45, not including the airport surcharge and any traffic charges included. Grabbing a taxi from the airport is easy when you find the taxi line up in the center island.

Although using rideshare services has become a popular way to get to and from airports, not all airports allow for rideshare cars to operate on their property. Additionally, Lyft and Uber users taking a car in or out of the SFO airport will see an extra airport surcharge. Rideshare drop-offs for passengers taking an Uber or Lyft to SFO will remain curbside, similar to a drop-off from a friend, pick-ups from ride-sharing services will change from time-to-time. Be sure to follow the instructions on the app for where to meet your Uber from SFO.

Shuttle services

One of the cheapest ways to travel back and forth is through a shuttle service to SFO airport. Reserving a shuttle through reliable sites like ShuttleFinder.com make the process simple and easy. ShuttleFinder partners with large shuttle services such as SuperShuttle’s Blue Van, to bring the best options to you. These shuttles are often the best option, giving you the ease of private transportation at a lower cost.

Public transportation

Public transportation is simple to navigate in San Francisco, so taking public transportation to the airport is definitely a viable option as long as you’re willing to haul your luggage around with you.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
You can travel back and forth from SFO on the BART. The station is at the International Terminal G, and the train comes every 15-20 minutes. If you’re visiting and don’t already have a ticket, you can buy a voucher ahead of time and redeem it at SFO at the Information Booth of International Terminal G. BART fares from SFO will depend on how far you’re going. The train does not run 24/7, so be sure to keep that in mind while planning your transportation.

Bus Lines
If you want to take the bus from SFO, you can take the SamTrans Route 292 or Route KX to get to the airport.

Insider tips

San Francisco International Airport is beautiful, clean, spacious and well-organized. Although the food, like most other airports, is very expensive, there is a wide selection to choose from. They even have a yoga room in Terminal 2.

Feeling icky after a flight? SFO has showers available by Gates G91-G102 in the departure level of the International Terminal. Got the travel blues? You just might run into the SFO Wag Brigade, therapy dogs who walk through terminals to cheer up travelers. Sleepy? You can rent an airport nap room for an hour or two. Bored? Visit the SFO Museum exhibitions sprinkled throughout the airport.

With free Wi-Fi and ample seating, it’s not the worst airport to stay overnight. Most shops and restaurants are closed by 11 p.m. so if you’re there later, be aware that you won’t have many options to choose from.
